[Jun. 9th, 2008|12:48 pm] |
I keep not-updating and thus leaving out all the cool stuff I could be writing about, so I will make it easy on myself and just recap the weekend. That seems to be the way to go.
Friday we were let out of work early because during a 3 minute mini-storm, the power was knocked out. We all work on computers and if the computers aren't workin, well, we can't either. I left at 4. On the way home, I came upon a bad accident [there was a blue truck or car flipped upside down in a ditch!] and a police car re-routed everyone to the right. So I turned to the right and said a little prayer in hopes that everyone involved would be ok and went on my way hoping to not get lost. I came off the country road into the back end of Genoa and as I was turning left I saw a shop in a little house that looked cute/interesting and it claimed to be an herb garden and seller-of-antiques so I made a pit stop. A nice old lady in there was telling me about flower essences and being generally interesting and then she asked if I like tea and I said yes, of course I like tea, so she made up some nettle tea while I further contemplated the flower essences. The tea was ready so I went around to the back of the shop and sat down to drink it. There was another old lady in there and we chatted about Genoa days and I couldn't really understand what she was saying and she said something about having 4 daughters that were queens of Genoa days and then she stopped talking so I read a book about 'superfoods' until I finished my tea. The owner was on the phone so I attempted to thank her and then I left because I wanted to get some food before the mc chris show.
I made some badass veggie wraps for myself & Dusty, then I drank a Sparks and we listened to the Blue Meanies and played with Lucky and then left for the house.
I get in there and the first person I see is Karl-with-a-K which is surprising but cool. Man it was sweaty in there. Dustin bought me a beer but while I was trying to put a quarter in the tip jar, my arm knocked over the freshly poured beer and I looked like a tool...woops? etc. etc. the show was awesome [3rd time to see mc!] and I got a hug from mc chris afterwards then we all went to my apt. where Dusty wrapped up Jarrod's wedding present in xmas paper and then we ate some snackies and talked about South Park. A+ Friday.
Saturday we got up early and I made some smoothies and Dustin left for Jarrod's wedding. I went to my parent's house where my dad was awesome enough to put a new catalytic converter on my car even after all the other stuff that has gone wrong with that POS Chevy that he has fixed. [and NOWWW it needs an oil change again. I should remember to do this after work today] so while my car was having surgery I went to the gym with my mom and worked out for an hour. Showered at home and we went to a cafe for some food and went shopping in Geneva because I wanted to buy some shorts. I also got a yellow flowered hippie-type dress but I really enjoy wearing it. Yesss the shorts are nice too. Denim pair from H & M and some longer gray ones from Kohl's. Okay enough about my damn clothes.
We then went out to dinner with my dad and got some pizza and then I left for Sycamore to see Amber & Julio's new place and then to a birthday party [I was told there would be a bonfire and a slip-n-slide but there were neither!] however, a pretty girl and a guy were spinning fire for awhile so that was sweet. I took a walk down John St. to buy a Fat Tire from American Liquors. The party was pretty chill and uneventful and around 11:30 everyone left for a different party so Amber and Julio and I all went home to sleep [not together, dooouuuh.] mmmyeah sleeping with the ac on is nice but I think the vent in my room doesn't work very well bc it still get's really hot in there.
Sunday I woke up early and I went to Shawn's for some bagels & tea with Amber and then we took a walk and went to the 'Sycamore Family Health' [name?] store. I got some more vitamin C and a fancy face mask. Because my skin has been gross lately.
I was scheduled to volunteer with the Art Attack from 11 to 1 but when I got out there a downpour started and a lady came by telling us that severe thunderstorms were on the way and it was recommended that we pack up and leave. So I helped them load their stuff into a truck and unload it into the Art Attack. Susan [gosh I hope I'm remembering her name right] told me they are trying to start up an artists' co-op in there, and though I am not entirely sure what an artists' co-op entails, I think I want to be a part of it.
So I was sitting inside my apt at 11:30 deciding what the hell to do with my day...clean...make some art..attempt to dye my hair...go to Dusty's? and then he calls me up and asks if I want to come over because he was going to James' house for a graduation party so I decided to come along. James' family is cool [and I had not previously met James bc he is living in Cali right now but was back for that wedding on Sat.] and his Russian grandpa sat down and told us all sorts of stories in broken-english and I thought how sad that crazy foreign grandparents might be a dying breed because major waves of immigration from European countries seem to be a thing of the past.
We then went to AJ's house for ANOTHER party and hung out there for awhile...
went back to Dusty's house and there was a huge, black wall cloud headed straight for his street so we stood outside and watched it approach. It looked really threatening...big sweeping, miles long cloud and then the rain started down the street and moved up to us, sideways and forceful and we retreated inside. Kim heard tornado sirens so she took the cat and made us come to the basement w/ her...
that lasted a few minutes and after that, just strong rain and winds. I did some laundry and Dustin showed me all the music he got from Mike and we played some Super Mario 3 and then had to go to sleep.
Oh yeah and we were talking about the Legendary Shack Shakers and when I saw their show a couple weeks ago I decided that J.D. Wilkes is awesomely hot and I told Dustin this and then I said...I wonder if getting boned by that guy could be considered a legitimate career choice?
he just laughed at me and said 'You're creepy'.
haha ok so I'm a creep. and I love Dustin.
I have decided that I'm not going to drink any alcohol until Marx party on June 21st because I have been doing that every weekend lately and should take a break.
something something...gotta get back to work.
Over n out. |

Quintessential 80's movie.
And Nicholas Cage looks way less dopey when he's young. Cute actually.
I had a long-feeling weekend. My brain is tired. I cried a lot today, for dumb reasons but I want to go to sleep instead of writing about it because I'm already up later than I wanted to be.
People from 80's movies are so superficial. haha. |

| | Rilo Kiley | ] | I got a haircut on Saturday. It was supposed to be just a small clean-up of sorts, because my old bad-ass cute hair cut was getting a little shaggy in the back.
But now...
now I have almost no hair. It was an accident, I think. When I told her I wanted to get rid of those last pieces of black and they were chopped off before I could think twice about just how SHORT that would end up.
I think I might like it about 3 weeks from now. I guess I'll have to deal.
I would put up a picture but either my camera or my batteries just don't work anymore.
Seriously, it's like a little-boy haircut. :( |

An update on my Cool White Phone...!
It was NEVER FOUND. We even took apart the couch to look inside it. Damn it all. For an entire week I developed a compulsion to search my living room every time I entered the apartment. I looked in places that people only look when they have exhausted every other crevice. The toaster. The freezer. In the hollow bottoms of my coconut monkey statues. I am sure that everyone is sick of hearing about my phone my phone my phone. My only other conclusion is that someone swiped it. I guess it's not TOO far off, even though I put on my Sherlock hat and asked everyone at the party. [Except for Jimmy who I trust to most degrees, and Dave Vercammon who has yet to respond to my message.]
So there, aside from a non-human entity, or the cat seeking revenge, I'm out of ideas. [and still bitter about it.] And I STILL wonder who threw the marshmallows all over the stairs. I don't think it was a malicious marshmallowing, but man, they weren't my mallows.
and then there is something else that happened a few weeks ago, around the time of my disappeared phone. Noises. Weird ones that make no sense, happening at 2:43 am. The sounds of muffled stomping, running up and then down a set of stairs. Doors closing. No voices. I wake up to these sounds pretty freaked out, and perking up my ears to see if I hear anything else, I hear the sound of RUNNING above me. As if someone ran a straight shot from the back of my apartment [over my head in the bedroom] to the front. Once. Loudly. and then I heard nothing else but birds chirping for the rest of the night. But you see, my apartment DOESN'T HAVE A THIRD FLOOR. And the roof is all but inaccessible, and the stairway that I mentioned is inside. I've been there. You can't get there unless you go in through the bike shop. This means that everything is locked. But someone or something made it from an indoor stair case, up AND down and then to the roof in a matter of two minutes. I just...don't THINK so. But it sounded like human running. Two legs. Loud. Not an animal, and NOT the wind. It wasn't windy, and Christy didn't hear anything from over in her place. A number of days later I asked about it in the bike shop, but they said no one was ever in there at that time of night and it's not possible to get onto the roof without jumping over from other buildings.
So, I was pretty creeped out by all this, and unwilling to sleep alone for a week or two after. Even though I did. I also decided, for awhile, that a ghost took my phone...anyone make anything of this?!
This entry is pretty late in coming, but I wanted to put it in writing to remember it.
In other news, I'm likely going camping on Memorial Day weekend [win!] my bff is pregnant [fail!] and I almost started a fight with some hick lady this morning. I walked out of my apartment and she grimaced at me. Then when I was crossing the street, I hear loudly [comments that I assumed to be in reference to my pink hair] THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO WAY IT IS! [real? It sure is...] AND IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT!!!
Now, maybe I was wrong in assuming all this, but the way she looked at me when I simply walked out my door, and the way she said it THAT loudly to the older man she was with led me to believe she was crap-talking my most enjoyable asset. So I flip her off and sing 'youuu're an aaaasshoooole' and then get in my car. I pass them [walking] and I roll down my window to yell
"YOUR *FACE* LOOKS LIKE SHIT!!!"
And yet I'm having an awesome day. |

| | distressed | ] | Remember that shiny, fancy, fun new phone I bought not even a week ago? Hm, I had it at my birthday party last night and I was showing some pictures to Shelly the last I remember. But now, I can not find it ANYWHERE. I have searched every fucking crevice, drawer, pocket, shoe, pile of clothing, thrown out trash bag, and couch in my apartment, twice. Maybe three times. And my delightful new phone-toy is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!!
I am very distressed to be honest. I had Dustin call it, but the battery is out so we couldn't listen for the ringer.
If anyone that was around yesterday has any notion of what happened to the thing, it would be cooooool if you let me know :)
So that's that, once again, I'm phoneless until I find it. I hope it's soon. I hope it's intact. I'm not prepared to spend another $70 so soon.
Please, phone, come home soon! I miss you. |

So it WAS an earthquake, and not Godzilla or war kittens or anything like that.
Illinois IS on a fault line after all. Yeah, it was definitely SOMEBODY'S fault. Cowboy Dan told us the name of it this morning but I already forgot. Maybe it has Wabash in the name.
Yesterday morning I woke up early and went to Cardinal Fitness to work out BEFORE work, which is always a feat. [I hate waking up early] but I always feel really good after I am done, and it frees up my evenings. NICE, when it's NICE OUT.
After work I went to Joel's to spend my evening with Amber and Julio and Mandy and Nate and Joel. They made amazing stir-fry using spaghetti noodles. Who knew. Who knew, also, that baked asparagus is really tasty when it is cooked with cinnamon. We drank some beer, flew some kites, ate the stir fry outside on a blanket with no shoes like a regular bunch of hippies, listened to Dub Side of the Moon [a reggae tribute to Pink Floyd, it was really good!], etc. until they all left for the Huka Corner and I went home to sleep because I didn't feel like spending money.
As I told them all when I showed up and popped the cap off a Negro Modelo in my flip flops and no coat, 'This is exactly what the world wants us to be doing right now'. Because summer is coming and the universe is sending me into outside-party-mode. :)
My favorite song today is Gene Vincent's 'Where Have You Been All My Life' ? All thanks to Jaffe, who I think is still coming to my party tomorrow. [Please sir, bring those cds with if you read this!] |

| | anxious | ] | So, I either just woke up to a small earthquake...or some other strange thing is going down.
My bed was shaking slightly. Not a violent shaking, more of a light, quick swaying. I touched the wall and felt it move also. I heard other things in the room making little 'tic-tic-tic-tic' noises from moving.
At least the crack in the kitchen wall isn't any bigger.
Will someone else PLEASE tell me if they noticed anything similar? Because otherwise I am going to be rather...creeped out.
Back to sleep now, in my hopefully stationary bed. |
